Description

Anuradha and her daughter Nrithya will welcome you into their beautiful home and give you an introduction of their family's culinary heritage. Anuradha is a doctor by profession and is a wealth of knowledge on different ingredients and cooking techniques that make up Mudaliar cuisine. She will give you an explanation of this regional cuisine, customs and even the science behind some of her Mudaliar recipes and ingredients. Next you'll head to the kitchen for a one-hour cooking demonstration during which Anuradha will show you how to prepare 1-2 dishes.

You will share a meal together at the dining table and enjoy a variety of dishes that reflect her heritage, experiences and her lifelong love of homecooking!

Anuradha learned to cook from her mother and grandmother and has now passed this passion down to her daughter, Nrithya, who is a talented food photographer. Anuradha has been enthusiastic about cooking for as long as she can remember and loves to experiment with new ingredients. Join them at their tastefully decorated home for a one-hour cooking demonstration of some of their family recipes. Please note that this is a cooking demonstration, not a hands-on cooking class.

One the meal is complete you will sit together at the table and enjoy a Mudaliar feast, served on a decorative banana leaf (when seasonally available). Your menu might include dishes such as vazhaippoo vadai (banana flower and lentil fritters), thitheepu idiyappam (sweet rice vermicelli), thakkali rasam (spicy lentil broth), uralakkazhangu perattal (sautéed potatoes seasoned with field beans and dill), badam kozhi kuzhambu (almond-based chicken curry), or vendhiya keerai era varuval (prawn in fenugreek greens) - all recipes from her treasured collection made with the finest seasonal produce. The meal will end with a sweet dessert, perhaps a delicate pudding beautifully decorated with pistachios and rose petals.

Please note, this experience is not a professional cooking demonstration, rather it is meant to be a visit into an authentic, local home to meet a local family and share the culture and cuisine together.
