Description

This walk takes you back into the medieval ages how Bangalore was once was. This was during the times of Kempegowdas, Marathas, Mughals, Rajas and Sultans till the time British took over. We will learn how the early city was built with its ancient temples, markets and the fortifications, some of which still remain even after destructive wars raged the city.

The walking tour starts from the busy and bustling KR market. This market is an epitome of how the markets used to be and how they have evolved. Particularly known for the flower market it houses, the place is a spectacle of colours and people going about doing their work as traders or customers. Great place for street photography (that is also covered in a separate photo walking tour).
Once we have visited the market, we will revisit history, the medieval times as we go through remnants of the past in the form of the Bangalore Fort and Tipu Sultan's summer palace that was the place for a bloody battle against the British few centuries ago. Many stories will be untold as we end the walk in peaceful times and in serene and holy environs of the next door 300 year old Kote Venkateshwara Swami Temple.
