Description

This 3-hour curated walk lets you explore the famous botanical park called as "Lal bagh" or the red garden.  They were originally started by the Nawab Hyder Ali Khan bahadur as his private gardens, but later on under the British rule these gardens became open to the general public. On this walk you get to explore the 240 acres of greenery and learn more about some of the special plant species therein. The guide will also give you a detailed narration of the gardens as well as let you explore some of the monuments to be found here.

Nawab Hyder Ali Khan bahadur established the gardens of Lalbagh around 1761, but after the fall of his son Tipu Sultan in the fourth Anglo-Mysore war, these gardens became the property of a British Major called as Waugh who later on gifted it to the British East India company. After that numerous superintendents were appointed to take care of these gardens and what they left behind is still there for us to see in the form of the trees, landscape features & monuments.

So if the traffic, crowd & the pollution is not your cup of tea to explore Bangalore, we suggest that you explore the green oasis of Lalbagh in the company of a local Bangalorean who calls Lalbagh his own backyard since the past four decades now.  The walk also includes some vegetarian breakfast or snacks from a heritage restaurant in the vicinity.

This walk is conducted by native Bangaloreans with years of extensive research, travel and publications on this subject, some of which is exclusive.
